Zariel Macchia, a freshman at William Floyd High in New York, won the women's under-20 6-kilometer title in 22:50 at the USATF Cross Country Championships, presented by Toyota, at Mission Bay Park in San Diego. Macchia, 15, became the youngest women's under-20 winner since Jordan Hasay in 2007. She also became the second straight champion from New York in the event, following Brooke Rauber of Tully High in 2020.
